I think we sometimes forget how awesome our education system is this country. Sometimes we forget how brilliant it is supposed to make us. But really it doesn’t make all of us that brilliant. It’s just a norm. But there is a better way. Let’s create a new style of education that aims to empower rather than try to suppress the personality. I became aware of this last night as I shot the video above with Ms. Tifa where I asked her a few questions regarding our education system. Her and I became friends a few months ago. One night we both got lost in a campus building and it turned it into a little adventure to get out. After stumbling climbing up and down some stairs, through the dark, climbing some stairs, and me fighting off invisible rats to impress her, we finally found our way into the cool night air, and by that time we were really good friends…

I’m always fascinated when I can look at normal routines from outside perspectives because they make things new again. Education in America looks normal, but when you see it from another’s eyes, it can get old real quick. Being around Tifa’s enthusiasm is addicting. It makes me smile, and act silly because she’s open to new ways of thinking and nothing is more exciting to me. But she’s a great example that the rest of the world is catching up with America’s power. It won’t be long until everyone has a degree from a powerful university, and then what? Who’s going to be the Hotcakes of the world then? When everyone has our degrees, what will make our children unique and powerful? We’ll just look like everyone else. It made me think deeper. After two shoots, our time together ended because she had to work. It was raining so I walked her to her car and I even carried her a massive puddle between campus and parking lot. As we talked, I felt like I was walking with a valuable piece of information that could change America as a whole. I said goodbye to her in the rain, and felt like I was looking into the eyes of the rest of the world catching up with us. It wouldn’t have been a bad time to kiss her, but I had other things on my mind. I looked at the massive college institution across the road and under the lights. Those buildings have been teaching with the same repetitive style for hundreds of years now. I feel like these buildings have been trying to force their identity into me since I was a little kid. They’ve been trying to “teach me to be me, ” but that’s the wrong way to reach me. This style was good and fine when I was a teenager and I didn’t care, or knew who I was. But now that I’ve experienced some of the magic of life, I don’t like the feel of normal education anymore. We should teach identity in a different way. And this is one aspect of our revolution I think we must change.
